A Change in Media Coverage

 Neither war no media is a new concept to humanity. War has always been followed and recorded by people all throughout history, however as technology advanced and the reasons for war became more gray than black and white the attitude towards it has drastically changed. In WWII there was a very close following of the war on the home front in the United States with a very positive support from the citizens. News articles from that time period often featured artistic propaganda that painted the picture of "Good vs Evil" to help encourage the American home front to keep doing everything in their power to help aid the fight in during the war. 

 

As technology advanced the next big war on Americans mind was Vietnam, however this time there was a much different feeling towards the war. This disregard manly stems from the idea of fighting in Vietnam with many not understanding the reasoning for the US being there, however media had vastly changed between WWII and Vietnam and it would become one of the most highly covered wars. Pictures and videos would be included in the news now and reporters where inbeded in country. This was no longer a write home and tell a tale of the great and brave heroes fighting the evil of the world, there was graphic imagery of what exactly war was. This greatly effected the news that was being broadcasted back on the American home-front and it greatly impacted the public opinion of the war. Now it is very important to note the extreme difference in why these wars where fought and this is by no means a blog that is claiming media was solely responsible for completely changed the outcome of the war, however it largely contributed to the feelings of Americans back home and killed the support of the war, which eventually led to the United States pulling out.
